RAM capacity can be expanded on some of Synology's business-oriented NAS servers for boosted performance and reliability. DDR RAM modules have been customized for Synology NAS servers to reduce chances of system crash due to compatibility issues. ECC RAM modules are designed for the XS-series and is predominantly used to prevent error strikes introduced during data storage or transmission.
