Below are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about the recruitment process.

Do I have to apply online?

Each of our vacancies are advertised through our vacancies link. However, we do also have the option for a paper application form available on request. To request a paper application, please contact our People Operations team at [email protected] or call the team on 01785 285578.

How long does it take to hear about my application?

Each of our vacancies are advertised for an initial two weeks as standard and it may take a further week to review all applications. It may take up to three weeks from the opening date of the vacancy to receive a response. All roles are advertised with a closing date, so please ensure we receive your application before the expiry of the advert.

Do you have any part-time/job share positions?

We welcome applications on any advertised roles for those seeking part-time/reduced hours positions. We will always endeavour to support these requests; however, each application will be judged on a case-by-case basis dependant on business needs. If you do require part-time/reduced hours, please state this in your initial application for the role applied.

What does the induction process look like if I'm successful?

On your first day you will meet your manager and members of your new team as well as receiving all the tools and systems required to begin your journey with Stone. Within your first month you will be invited to a welcome lunch where you will meet other new starters across all sectors of the company, CEO and senior management. You will have the opportunity to discuss and provide feedback on how you have found your experience with Stone.

What happens to my details after I've applied?

Your details are securely stored for 6 months and after that time, deleted, Any paper copies are destroyed confidentially and securely.

If I'm unsuccessful, will you keep my application for future vacancies?

We keep details from prior applications on our secured recruiting platform for six months from date of sending. It is important to complete the ‘key skills’ section on your initial application as this will enable other hiring managers within Stone to find your details easily when they’re sourcing for similar roles. You may be invited to apply for a similar position within the business if you’re unsuccessful with your initial application.

I cannot upload my CV via the vacancies page.

How do I contact before my interview?

How old do I have to be to join Stone?

You must be at least 18 years old or be able to provide evidence that you are not required to be in full-time education if you’re 16/17. Where our roles require the use of a company issued vehicle, applicants will need to be a minimum of 25 years of age for vehicular insurance purposes. Any roles will state this requirement within the job advert, if applicable.

How will I get paid?

All Stone, wages are paid on the last Friday of every month (excluding December and Bank Holidays.) This is via BACS payment directly into your nominated bank account.

Do I have to wear a uniform?

Some roles within the business do require a uniform to be worn, however this is provided for you if successful. These may include safety wear such as protective footwear & hi-vis vests.

Within our support function roles, we encourage people to be their authentic selves at work, therefore a relaxed dress code is in place. Details of particulars can be found in your Employee Handbook when you receive your joining details.

Will I get any training when I join Stone?

Training is provided on the job upon joining for all of our roles. We also have a dedicated e-learning portal with specifics for completion depending on your role in the business. There are further opportunities for continuous professional development whilst you’re with Stone.

I am unable to attend my interview on the date offered / I require reasonable adjustments to attend an interview.

What documentation will I need to provide to prove my right to work & why do I need to provide this?

We are required to check every employee’s proof of right to work and we accept a number of documents such as:

  • UK passport
  • UK birth certificate and document containing proof of NI Number
  • Share code for checking eligibility to work in the UK for non-UK nationals

All candidates are required to provide proof of their Right to Work in the UK in the amendment to the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.

My question hasn’t been answered, what do I do?
